Halloween 2015 @ Grew’s Home
So I have Salt Lake Comic Con completed my attentions now turn to one of my other passions Halloween. For some LDS people it is not the most desirable holiday but my mind starts going into overdrive when it comes around. I must thank my wife for being such a good sport when it come to my craziness.
What can I do? How can i give the trick and treaters the best experience they have ever had. Each year has to better than the other. I have a good friend who is also into Halloween and we bash ideas around all year on how we can scare our patrons. To read more please click here
Breaking the World Record
It goes without saying, but Salt Lake Comic Con 2015 was amazing and I had a great time. There was a lot that I did and didn’t get to do, but probably one of the most memorable parts of my experience was helping break the World Record for the most people dressed as Comic Book characters in one place.
I was planning on wearing my Age of Ultron Scarlet Witch costume at least one day of Comic Con. I didn’t think that it would qualify for the World Record attempt, but a fellow cosplayer on the Cosplay Utah facebook site clarified that a movie version of the character was allowed. The rule was that the character had to have originated in a comic book (Harley Quinn made her debut in a television show) and there could be no alternate versions of the character (such as a steampunk Batman). Will Superhero Movies Go The Way of Westerns.
Steven Spielberg told the associated press “There will be a time when the superhero movie goes the way of the Western,” That is quite the statement in the current climate of big budget movies filling seats and filling the coffers of the movie Execs. First gut reaction was “What he must be crazy.” I do how ever want to take a more in depth look at the statement. To read more click here
Bad Super Hero Movies that are Better than The Fantastic Four
In honor of the release of The Fantastic Four last weekend, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at some really bad superhero movies. Actually, what made me think of this was seeing that Batman & Robin was available on Netflix. I saw that and thought it would be fun to go over a list of bad superhero movies, maybe a list of the 5 worst superhero movies. Then FF came out and the whole mindset of this list changed. I have put together a list of really bad superhero movies that are better than FF. Better according to whom? Rotten Tomatoes, of course. If you haven’t heard, Fantastic Four is sporting a not so fantastic (yes, I went there) Rotten Tomatoes score of 9%. That is so horrendous that I felt like we needed to give some context. I went through a quick list of really bad comic book flicks and found that quite a few of the ones that are generally considered just awful actually scored better than FF. The only one that I thought of that didn’t was Catwoman, which tied at 9%, so it wasn’t worse. Let’s begin the list and you’ll get the idea as we go along. To read more please click here
10 tips for taking kids to Comic con
Can you bring your kids to the convention? It seems to be a question that comes up every time that Salt Lake Comic Con has an event, whether it be Fan X or the actual Comic Con. People who haven’t been before, or people who have never brought their kids before, they all wonder if this event is appropriate for them to bring their little ones. The short and easy answer is yes. The folks at Comic Con seem to realize that we are a pretty family friendly market, and so they try to make their convention as family friendly as possible. It’s really a tough task, when you think about it. On one hand they have to provide enough entertainment and things for adults, while at the same time providing some great things for the kiddos. They seem to improve their balance here with each convention.
If you have never been to the convention with your kids, have no fear, your friendly neighborhood Geeky Mormon is here to help. I have five little ones of my own, which means we… to read more click here.

I sat and pondered all weekend of what I would do as my first post on The Geeky Mormon. Should I review the latest movie I had seen or the biggest gossip in the geek world or some intellectual discourse on the finer points of Geekdom. Nothing sat well with me in … Read the rest on The Geeky Mormon
New Logo Intro
Abilities – Extremely large and strong individual, uses heavy weaponry for large scale suppression and support, but prefers to get in close while wearing heavy armor to punch and kick in person.
Gear – Several large weapons, and his arm that has several abilities and uses.
Valk – Squad mate while he was in the guard, Mentored him and trained him while they work together, he has a tremendous amount of respect for him and is still loyal, although he does take every chance to try and show him up and prove he has gotten as good if not better than his mentor.
- Sulli – Squad mate while he was in the guard, has a lot of respect for her, as she is a much better shot than him, but he is also very intimidated by her. He is used to dealing with ladies and respectable women, but he doesn’t know how to treet or react to woman that is just as competent and capable as he is in combat and the rough and tumble. Sulli is aware of this and is greatly amused by it, and tends to covertly rub his face in it.
- Jake – Squad mate while he was in the guard, tends to treat himlike a kid brother, makes jokes about his sword and his lack of relative ability compared to the rest of the squad, but is perfectly aware that Jake has saved their skins as much as anyone with his computer, and even by cutting through locks with his sword. They both like playing video games together in their down time. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…
